Jacqui Fatka graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications with a minor in agriculture education in 2003 and continues to have a passion for communications.
With a growing interest in agricultural public policy, she spent time interning on Capitol Hill. Her first true taste of the world of politics opened her eyes to the world of often complicated federal regulations and legislation that impacts the countryside. She started her career in August 2003 at Farm Progress companies, writing for Farm Futures, Feedstuffs and the 18 regional and state publications. In 2022, she joined the staff at Agri-Pulse, and joined CoBank in 2024.
Over the years, she has covered a wide range of topics including farm management, ag policy, trade, biofuels, climate and environmental implications on the farm. She published a comprehensive five-part series – The Great Farm and Food Talent Search – where she takes a deep dive into the intricacies of the ag labor market, training the workers of tomorrow and how technology can assist in addressing labor shortages.
